Tom Cruise is reportedly working on reconnecting with Suri by paying for his daughter’s college tuition.

Tom Cruise still provides Suri with $65,000/year in college tuition 

As reported, Suri Cruise is currently a freshman at Carnegie Mellon – a private university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA). Tom Cruise’s 18-year-old daughter moved into the dormitory at the end of August with the help of her mother, Katie Holmes. Notably, there is information that the male actor born in 1962 has paid for all of Suri’s tuition.

Paparazzi caught Suri Cruise being taken to her college dorm by her mother.

Recently, a source close to Tom Cruise revealed to Heatworld about the  Mission Impossible actor’s efforts to mend the father-daughter relationship after more than a decade of separation :  “Tom Cruise pays for Suri’s tuition not only to fulfill his duty as a father. This is also part of a long-term plan that he hopes can win back his daughter’s affection. He wants to connect with Suri as adults and discuss all issues frankly.

Tom Cruise will need to make up for a lot of what he missed out on before, and Tom thinks now is the right time to do this. Tom is very patient and feels that he can wait a few more years, as long as he can step into his daughter’s life again.”

It is known that instead of letting her mother buy her an apartment near school, Suri Cruise decided to experience standard student life by moving into a dormitory.

Previously, Daily Mail reported that tuition at Carnegie Mellon University for each student is 65,000 USD/year (about 1.6 billion VND). However, Suri and her mother do not have to worry about this issue, because Tom Cruise is the one responsible for paying.

Tom Cruise’s only biological daughter is excited about her new life.

This is part of the divorce agreement between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes signed in 2012. According to documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Tom Cruise must pay his only biological daughter for expenses including “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular expenses”.

“Tom is actually still paying Suri’s tuition. He has always paid for her education and never stopped because he is a man of integrity. He has never hesitated to pay child support and child support. He does not go back on his word. He is doing his duty,” a friend of Tom Cruise told the Daily Mail.

Tom Cruise took the financial settlement of his divorce from Katie Holmes seriously in 2012. However, emotionally, he has been absent from all of his daughter’s important events for over a decade.

Father-son relationship is hard to “thaw”

According to Heatworld, Katie Holmes used to be quite fierce in protecting her daughter. But  “Katie is confident that she has raised her daughter to be an adult, letting her think and see things for herself. Katie believes that now, and especially after graduating from university, Suri understands herself and can stand up for herself. Therefore, she no longer objects to Tom Cruise connecting with her daughter. Suri has never cut off her relationship with her father because Tom is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet.”

However, in reality, the relationship between Suri and Tom Cruise was extremely distant, to the point that Suri dropped her father’s last name when she turned 18. Instead, she used Katie’s middle name, Noell, to express her gratitude to her mother and completely end her relationship with her  famous father.

The Dailymail quoted a source saying that Suri has no intention of meeting her father when she becomes an adult, nor does she consider the Mission Impossible actor a part of her life: “Suri will not maintain any contact with her biological father even though she has just turned 18. Even if he calls, she will not pick up the phone. She insists that she only has her mother.”

The American media believes that this is Suri’s “revenge” on her famous father after a long period of being estranged. The fact that Tom Cruise did not participate in raising Suri and did not meet her made the public feel confused and raised many questions about the relationship between father and daughter. 

During the first 6 years of her life, Suri was considered a “Hollywood princess” with her father’s utmost indulgence. However, in June 2012, when Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, the little princess’s halo gradually faded.

After her parents went their separate ways, Suri was given custody of her mother, and they both lived in New York (USA). According to the agreement, Suri received a child support of $400,000 (more than 10 billion VND) every year until she turned 18. Sadly, since then, in addition to this “huge” child support, the little princess who was once so loved rarely saw her biological father. 

Not only that, Tom Cruise is also quite cold towards his daughter, completely ignoring special milestones in her life, including Suri’s 18th birthday. Meanwhile, he often meets, visits, and gives gifts to his two adopted children, Isabella Cruise and Connor Cruise.
