The news agency explained that the song’s resurgence in popularity is due to many people believing that the lyrics hint at a relationship between Bieber and his “godfather” – rapper Diddy – when he first debuted. Diddy is currently in custody on three charges: sex trafficking, conspiracy to extort, and transporting people to engage in prostitution, and faces more than 100 complaints.

In 2018, Bieber signed with rapper Usher’s RBMF Music label – Diddy’s protégé – at the age of 14 and became close friends with the “rap king” afterwards. The two often appeared together at many events, having collaborated on the song Moment last year.
