Hundreds of off-road tracks on rugged cliffs with drop angles of up to 65 degrees in the western desert of the United States are not for the faint of heart.
Located on the Colorado Plateau in Utah, in the western United States, between the red cliffs of Arches National Park and the stunning sandstone of Canyonlands National Park is the town of Moab, a favorite of many adventurous travelers.
The rugged desert with hundreds of off-road tracks is where many people come to seek thrills.
One particularly tough course is Hell’s Revenge, a 13.5km loop of twisting sandstone arches.
This course offers spectacular views of the La Sal Mountains, Negro Bill Canyon, the Abyss, and the Colorado River. Another popular course in the area is the Slickrock Bike Trail east of Moab.
The Hell’s Revenge track includes challenging sections called the Escalator, the Black Hole, but the most famous is still The Lion’s Back.
“Lion’s Back” is a sandstone mountain range several dozen meters high. Visitors must drive up to the top of the mountain at a 65-degree angle, then turn around and slowly descend. The road became famous a few years ago, after a car lost its brakes and crashed down the mountainside, falling 9 meters vertically. Fortunately, no one was killed. The incident was videotaped and shown on many television programs.
Another tough challenge is Mickey’s Hot Tub, which has swallowed up many cars.
“Hell’s Gate” stands upright.
Every year on Easter, hundreds of drivers come to this track to conquer the challenge of the Easter Jeep Safari competition that lasts for 9 consecutive days.
