Lightning formation and its origin are still a matter of debate. Scientists have studied various sources such as wind, moisture, friction and atmospheric pressure to the influence of solar wind and charged particles in solar energy. Ice crystals in clouds may be an important factor in the formation of lightning because it can create an environment of opposite charges in the clouds leading to the formation of lightning.When two oppositely charged clouds come close to each other, the potential difference between them can reach millions of volts. There is a phenomenon of electric sparks being discharged between the two clouds and we see a flash of lightning. A few seconds later we hear an explosion, that is thunder (the speed of light is faster than the speed of sound, so we see the lightning first). If a charged storm cloud moves close to the ground to an open area, encounters a tall object such as a tree, a person holding a shovel, etc., there will be a phenomenon of electric sparks being discharged between the cloud and the ground. That is the phenomenon of lightning.
