Surely few people know that in the world there exists a banana up to 18 cm long, literally super giant.
Musa Ingens is the largest member of the banana family in terms of size. It is native to the tropical forests of Papua New Guinea (a country located near the equator in Southeast Asia).

The average height of Musa Ingens banana is 20 – 25 meters, equivalent to a 6-storey building, 5 times higher than the normal banana variety. The entire trunk is wrapped in a very tightly overlapping bark, so large that even an adult cannot hug it.

When the bananas on the giant tree ripen, a bunch of it not only produces a lot of fruit, but is also large and heavy, ranging from 30 to 60 kg, meaning that 1 fruit can weigh an average of 1.5 to 3 kg. The bananas are up to 18 cm long and about 5 to 6 cm wide.
This is known as the banana variety with the largest fruit in the world today because a Musa Ingens banana can reach the size of an adult’s calf. Normally, this banana must be 10 times bigger than the normal bananas we usually eat.

Their leaves are also classified as “huge” with a length of 5 m, a width of 1 m, the leaf stalk is about 2 m long, very long and thick. Many people in Papua New Guinea have taken advantage of this feature to use Musa Ingens banana leaves to roof their houses, wrap food on hunting trips, etc.
The only regrettable thing is that this banana is not as fragrant and sweet as the bananas commonly sold in the market, and it also has quite a lot of seeds. However, Musa Ingens is just a wild banana, so this is not too difficult to understand.

Papua New Guinea island has been feared for generations due to the legends of cannibal tribes, however, this place is one of the places that is extremely favored by nature. The rich and unique flora and fauna attract thousands of visitors to come and explore.
Nowadays, giant bananas are rare in the wild because their seeds are very difficult to find. Moreover, the germination process of seeds can take up to 1 year or more. Therefore, giant bananas are very rare and are sought after by many plant lovers around the world.
