The naturally grown purple fruit is likened to “devil’s finger” but is sought after by many people.

This strange fruit is not popular in Vietnam but is quite popular in China and Western countries.

Decaisnea melon, their English name is Decaisnea

Miêu thị means cat poop. The reason for this name is because their shape is very similar to cat poop.

Devil’s finger melon or “devil’s finger”

When blooming, the melon flower looks like a bell, the small flowers will grow together and grow towards the ground.
The trunk of the “devil’s finger” tree is gray-brown and has many branches. Their small branches grow quite long, and can reach a size of about half a meter.
“Devil’s Finger” sometimes looks quite similar to a bean. When young, the fruit is green, and when it turns purple-black, it is ready to be harvested.
The appearance is quite ugly but the attraction of this fruit is its delicious taste, sweet like honey.
The fruit has quite high nutritional value, containing sugar, protein and multivitamins… very good for health.
Currently, this type of melon is not widely grown, mainly exploited in nature, with a price of about 60 yuan/kg (nearly 200,000 VND).
