This is the second time in 2015 that a volcano in Chile has erupted since the Villarrica volcano spewed out a large amount of ash and lava on March 3.
Chilean authorities say the 2,000m-high Calbuco volcano has been dormant for 43 years.
Chile’s national emergency office has ordered the evacuation of households within a 20km radius around the volcano.
